Massachusetts Elected Veterans Pledge Support For Treasurer

Congressman Seth Moulton, State and Local Leaders Endorse Goldberg’s Re-election Bid

BOSTON- Treasurer Deb Goldberg’s campaign announced today that she has been endorsed by elected leaders who have served in the United States Military, and those who work closely with veterans. In their statements, officials cite her efforts to expand the Veteran’s Bonus Division, and her outstanding leadership as Treasurer.

“It is a special honor to receive these endorsements,” said Treasurer Goldberg. “These men and women have served their country with honor and have gone on to serve their districts with distinction. I am proud to collaborate with them on our efforts, and I look forward to continuing as Treasurer with their support.”

“Deb has been a staunch advocate for veterans in the Commonwealth and I’m proud to endorse her candidacy for re-election. Her work to expand the veterans bonus program has made a real difference in the lives of veterans and their families all across the Commonwealth,” said Congressman Seth Moulton a Marine Corps veteran.  “Deb is a true leader who is driven by a passion to serve and a commitment to helping our veterans transition back to civilian life.“

“As Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee, I have always worked closely with Treasurer Goldberg on delivering benefits and services to our veterans, military members and their families.  She is a big reason why Massachusetts leads the nation in providing for the men and women who serve and have served this country,” said State Senator Mike Rush, Norfolk & Suffolk District, an Iraq War veteran and Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserves.  “Deb Goldberg and her office have been instrumental in the passage of several nationally recognized veterans’ legislation during her tenure.  She continues to make veterans a priority in her capacity as Treasurer.”

“During my time in the Legislature, I have found Deb Goldberg to be extremely responsive when it comes to veterans’ issues. She has worked tirelessly to promote and expand the veteran’s bonus program, promote financial literacy to our veterans and their families, and is a constant presence at veteran’s event throughout the Commonwealth,” said Representative Jerry Parisella, D-Beverly, a 24-year member of the Army Reserve with deployments to Iraq and Bosnia. “Not too long ago I contacted her office to help a World War II veteran determine if he had received his bonus. Within minutes I received an answer and was able to ensure this veteran got the benefits he deserves.”

“I have the highest regard for Deb Goldberg. Her access and experience in dealing with veterans issues is second to none,” said Representative Hank Naughton, an Iraqi and Afghanistan veteran. “I know she always has our backs.”

“Treasurer Goldberg does not just support our Veteran programs here in the Commonwealth, she often takes the lead to expand support for our Veterans.  One example among many is the great work her office does to help our Veterans develop skills to become financially literate and financially secure,” said Representative Linda Dean Campbell, U.S. Army veteran.  “I am very much looking forward to working with Treasurer Goldberg next session on expanding our support for Veterans living here in the Commonwealth.”

“Deb’s work on expanding the eligibility for the Veteran’s Welcome Home Bonus, and her focus on financial literacy programs like Operation Money Wise, have made readjusting to civilian life easier for thousands of veterans in the Commonwealth,” said Representative John Lawn, House Chair of the Joint Committee of Veterans and Federal Affairs. “These are just a couple of the reasons she has my full support in her re-election campaign.”

“As a 27 year career veteran, and City Councilor in Revere for the past 18 years, I am proud to endorse Deb Goldberg for re-election,” said Revere City Councilor Ira Novoselsky.  “I have watched as she has worked tirelessly to expand benefits for veterans, and ensure they have the tools they need to remain financially secure in their return from active duty.”

“Treasurer Goldberg has always been a strong voice and leader in our state in supporting veterans and military families,” said Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn, U.S. Navy Retired, Veteran, Operation Enduring Freedom. “Deb Goldberg understands the struggles and sacrifices made by our military families and she will continue to support veterans and ensure they are always treated with the respect and fairness they earned.”
